JH Interior Design Receives Awards

JH Interior Design was awarded two golds, a silver and two special impact awards at the Nebraska-Iowa Chapter of American Society of Interior Designers. Held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Happy Hollow Club, 10 designers and staff members were there to receive the awards and celebrate.

The Silver Medal Award was given to Molly Lund for her design of Clarkson Regional Health Services contemporary office space in Regency. One judge said of Molly’s design, “Extra credit for that ceiling detail in the conference room! Love how much of a statement it makes when entering from the balance of the facility that has standard ACT (acoustical ceiling tile).” Another commented on the “good mix of materials to soften the harder profiles of necessary angular tables, etc in an office environment.”

Designer Mary Ritzdorf was awarded a Gold Medal Award and the Residential Impact Award for the modern Tudor-style home she designed in Omaha’s Westside Neighborhood. Many of the judges’ comments were about how fun the design was. One said, “The juxtaposition between the Tudor style and the interior styling is absolutely fabulous.” Another commented, “The devil is in the details, and the incredible details like the orange poms on the primary bedroom curtains are a fantastic example of how the details make the project extraordinary. I actually had a massive smile when I saw the animal print wallpaper in the bedroom–perfectly balanced with the more formal and transitional headboard.”

And finally, designer and JH Interior Design founder Julie Hockney, along with designers Rachael Cavanaugh and Brittney Bosak, accepted a Gold Medal Award and special Impact Award for Best Use of Space for the lake house they designed in Valley, Nebraska’s Blue Water community. One judge commented that the home’s design was “exceptional on every level” and one said, “Fantastic usage of materials to balance hard materials like concrete and glass with wood, color and scale to create a balanced interior. Enjoyed the stair detail in the primary bathroom to unitize the water views from the tub–flows seamlessly with the shower location. The illuminated bookcase between the dining room and the sunken living room was quite successful in bringing a transition space to life!”
